I’ve photoed and filmed enough weddings to know what Brides almost instantly regret not having done at their reception. To help you Bride and Grooms prepare best for your big day, here are 5 things you might have no thought about come time to your wedding ceremony and reception.
Choreograph The First Dance
Yes, you read that right. CHOREOGRAPH your first dance. Now, it doesn’t have to be anything short of spectacular but at least have in mind or practice a little before it’s time to show off your dance moves. I can’t tell you how many times a Bride and Groom didn’t do this and looked so uncomfortable because they totally forgot to prepare for this. If anything, keep it simple. It will look nice for everyone but also for your photographer and videographer.
Pay Beforehand
Now I get paid to shoot or film weddings. TRUST ME, the last thing you want to do after your wedding is to worry about paying for anything. You want the rest of the night to yourselves. You don’t want calls from vendors during your honeymoon, trying to get their payments. So, it’s best to tie up all loose ends the day before your big day. You don’t want money on your mind before, during or after your wedding party.
Hire A Photographer / Videographer For the Whole Reception
I’m not saying this because I want to make more money because you have me for a longer period at your event. In all honesty, I’ve noticed that couples regret not having someone to capture their whole event (START to FINISH). Don’t skimp on this. You’ll have photos and videos to look back on for the rest of your life. When all is said and done, the only thing you’ll have after your wedding is the photos and video of your day. It’s an investment and when will you ever look this happy again with your love? Probably never.
Alone Time
A wedding is time to celebrate the union of you and your partner with your family, friends and whoever you want there as well. However, don’t forget to take some alone time to be alone with your partner during the wedding party because it is time you’ll never get back. Take the time to just breathe everything in and appreciate each others company. Share some of those special words you want to tell each other.
EAT!
You’ll be surprised at how many Brides don’t eat on the day of their wedding because they get carried away greeting guests and just getting caught up in the whirlwind of the day. You paid a lot for your food, make sure you get to taste it, plus you’ll need that energy to get you through the day!
Wedding planning can be stressful so I hope these 5 things are just some takeaways that you might have not thought about and now might take into consideration.
